Wiping off the cobwebs

Well I have taken a brief summer hiatus from blogging for awhile. Many happenings in Philly sports have come and gone since I have blogged and I will not rehash them all. I am not going to lie that I was upset when RJ Umberger was traded from the Flyers though my father and rabid flyers fan and season ticket holder since 71 tried to make me see why this was a good move. God Bless my fathers soul for trying to understand the logic of the flyers acquisitions and trades with as many missteps that this team has. One of the biggest for me being the trade of Brind Amour.

Anyways to drift away from hockey since it is not currently hockey season. I am not going to say anything about the eagles because well it is too soon in my mind because they have just started training camp. The Phillies however! Well I am only going to say one thing about the Phillies is that they just need to play more consistently. Consistency is something that seems to be lacking from this team besides some stand out pitching talent. I am mean we have some good pitchers but I dont think that anyone would be like oh yeah he is going to take us to the World Series. Though the reason for t his could be because we have an owner that is happy to just have a mediocre team. Sometimes I wonder if he has his head in the sand. I do not refer to the owner of the Phillies by name because I fear that my computer might go to the blue screen of death!

In pure blonde fashion I will not transition to the next topic and that is me being baffled by guys lack of ability to hide that they are staring at a womans chest. I mean gentlemen really if us women can discreetly check out your ass and package then you should be able to at least try to cover up the fact that you are staring at my chest.

I mean I do not have big boobs I wear a B cup. A guy should not have so much of his attention fixed to them that he runs into a pole in the street because he was not looking where he was going! I mean I had a halter dress on its not like the girls were on display like a hooker in Amsterdam! I mean gentlemen really I feel this is something that you should have learned in school! I mean us girls we are not hard to figure out! We were talking about guys like you were talking about girls at lunch. Minus the interjections for discussions about cars and sports and occasionally what band was rocking your world. I am just saying that maybe you should learn to stare with your mouth closed to not make that oogly face as you walk by me.

I think i have made my point and one that will probably never happen. Hey a girl can dream!

Till next time

Its shiny and silver...

And no I am not talking about the bullet ladies. I havent blogged for awhile as work demanded my immediate attention. Well the Flyers won at least one game against Pittsburgh and I must say that the penguins played great and I can not complain about the flyers from progress from last year to this year. I would like to see the penguins beat detroit and if they keep playing with the passion that I have seen in the last two games they just might be able to do it! So I hope they can bring home the cup to Pittsburgh. I have no smart remarks or nothing witty to say. I will be back soon though with blogs making fun of the stupid blonde sit I do accidentally on purpose or see stupid shit other people do ha!

R.J. Umberger Sex with a Stick

Okay so I must address something first! Just because I am a girl does not mean I cannot blog about sports ya dipsticks!!! One of my friends was like but your a girl you cant talk about sports. I was like wow really, really! So I told him to kiss my ass and that I could bore people into submission with my endless talk about the Flyers run for the cup. I think I must be on a power trip. Now the title of my blog does make me look like one of those girls that watches sports for the attractive guys. However, it is pure coincidance that some of my favorite players happen to be good looking. I mean Gange is one of my favorites and he happens to be attractive, and BrindAmour will always be one of my favorite flyers sadly I still mourn his loss.

Ah my blogging ADD has kicked in! Well in regards to my Post Title, I simply mean that with the way that RJ has played these last couple of games, I mean hot damn. Now RJ isnt the only stand out player on the team there are many others such as Marty Biron, upshall, timonen etc. The team has played remarkably well and after being out shot by Montreal and to come through with a 4-1 series win I was thrilled. I mean Montreal was going to be hard to beat, and the games were definatly nothing to bat an eye at, the flyers had to play aggressive to really champion those games.

Pittsburgh is going to be an interesting series. Here the flyers really need to assert domiance early in this series to really through pittsubrgh off their game. Also Flyers need to stop blowing two goal leads. It seems that even when they are up by two goals the game is as close as it would be if it were tied. I mean I enjoy the thrill of the game, but giving me unnecessary grey hairs is not what i asked for!!! Flyers need to effectively shut down Crosby in Malkin. Malkin is an intense player I wouldnt put anything past him this series especially since I have seen him comment on how the flyers unnecessary start fights and are too forcefully. Malkin it is hockey if you dont want to get hit go play golf son. Though for someone who doesnt like the aggressive style of the flyers, Malkin seems to like to kick opposing teams players skate from under them. Pot and kettle meet one another!

Okay, I dont want to sit and bash pittsburgh because they are a great team with excellent players. And as much as I criticized Malkin he is a talented player and I wont say he isnt. Espn has the series going 6 games in favor of pittsburgh and I would love for the Flyers to prove the sports writers at espn wrong again! However, the flyers are going to have to clean up certain aspects of their playing style to make it past the penguins!

I am excited for the first game of the series on friday! I will be planting myself at any sports bar in DC that has the game on, if you know who will have it on please leave me a comment and you just might see me there in my flyers jersey, though still angry Cap's fans might beat me up.

Till next time!

Lord Stanley's Cup

Flyers are up in the series 3-1 and well I could be happier except for the fact that I have to try to watch the games online or get frequent status and play updates from my friends and family who have been watching or at the games. Now is truly when I wish I could capitalize on the fact that my father has season tickets. But honestly living in DC right now is putting a hamper on me being an overly enthusiastic Flyers fan, not the kind you want to punch in the face.

Marty Biron is playing exceptional and he is not the only one, but I have a love for the goalies. Marty is getting dangerously close to topping my love for former Flyers Goalie Ron Hextall. Though I dont think he will be able to do that but I can love the skill of both of these goalies equally.

I am not going to lie and say that the team has suffered since the loss of gange, but it had. I am impressed how they have bounced back without him and have had a successful in these playoffs. Though this is not to say that they havent given me my fair share of heart attacks when it comes to close calls or almost blowing the series against the Caps. If we beat Montreal I believe we would go on to face pittsburgh. This is going to be a tall order to shut down some key players on that team, but the team seems to be adapting well to its opponents. I mean lets be honest Montreal is ten times faster than the flyers. That is one of the reasons the Flyers have struggled since the rules change after the strike, it made the game much more wide open and swayed to teams with speed. I am dwelling!

Regardless I am impressed, and the Flyers seem to have gotten into the head of Price and Montreal who cant win regardless of out shotting the flyers this whole series. However, the Flyers need to stop blowing two goal leads in the games and need to close out the series this next game, after seeing how hard a team can fight back when down two games. Playing straight through seven games I think will leave the flyers a bit haggered to go up against a team that has been easily beating its opponents.

I have not been following the West Coast teams too closely I need to catch up on that because that is beginning to play a factor into whose hands Lord Stanley's cup will fall. I would really love to see that happen in Philadelphia but the Flyers need to continue to improve their already aggressive and successful playing style.

I am not commenting on Phillies today...I save that ranting and cheering for another day. And as for the 76ers well I cant say that I actively watch them. I am happy they made it into the playoffs!

Till the next time!

Stopping Traffic

Well I will explain the title for this post later, because I dont want to look rampantly shallow from the beginning which I am not ya jerks that think I am serious! I am currently basking in the glory that is the Flyers overtime win last night. It is redemption that we went from being the worst team in the NHL to making it past the first round of the playoffs. I have been a Flyers fan since birth! However, I am sure many Cap's fans are crying foul today, though I cant say its completely unwarranted. The one flyers goal can be called questionable but I just call it luck deal with it. Its not my fault that AO decided to show and actually play his ability the last two games. And about the penalty in overtime well its not completely unheard of but you just dont see it that much. Again deal with it!! I love the flyers but it is going to be hard going all 7 games and then having to face Montreal. Do I think that we will get past Montreal, I dont know. I think the team might be too tired to keep up momentum against the strong Canadians. The only thing in our favor is that Montreal went five games in their series so they did not get a long rest like the Penguins did. Okay enough hockey talk.

Okay I am not old by any means, I am very young. Okay ya pervs I will be 24 in May. I am defiantly feeling the post college slow down beginning to occur though. I went out on saturday like most saturdays to get my drink on. I dont get really wild and crazy with my drinking cause I do plenty of stupid or what my friends call hilarious shit sober. I venture to the drunkfest that is adam's morgan for the night, I only go in the spring because I am too lazy to venture too far in the cold! So we did a little dancing in a bar that seemed to have absolutely no ventalation. One might ask why my ass was stupid enough to stay so long at said bar. Well that is because I am an ass and was having way to much fun watching one of my friends try to seduce my best friend. I think said best friend might want to kick my ass which I will allow her to.

Okay okay I digress, on with the story! So we leave said sweaty bar and go to another bar to meet up with the smart half of my group. I am notified that ppl have a craving for falafel. I am perplexed, I kinda wanted to watch several drunk members of the group try to fit jumbo slice into their faces! So walking to the car I am roasting So I take off my top.......

Okay not what you are thinking and no I am not going to call you a perv again! I have a cami underneath of my pretty going out top that I had bought that do for the occasion. No I do not normal shop everytime I go out, I was just in the mood. So I think I might have caused a car crash, as a cab stopped in the middle of the street after my graceful removal of shirt. The cabbie yelled something out of the window but I am not sure what it was, because I was concentrating of wanting to get out of the sweat trap that was that shirt from the hades of flames that was that club. No I am not going to sit here and type to you all that I am the hottest thing walking the face of the earth. I have confidence I am an attractive girl, I work hard to stay in shape, but by no means after sweating in said death trap for 2 hours did I feel or look sexy. I am glad I could give someone a thrill for the night, as minor as that thrill was or really should have been. I spend the rest of the car ride mystified as to the car stoppage.

Anyways you can pick your head up off the keyboard, wipe up the drool on your chin as I am done my story. I am just a single girl in the city, that is lucky enough to stop traffic on 18th street and have a ton of her friends laugh as hard at me as I do at myself!

Weiners and Pucks

Okay ladies and gentlemen. Deep down I have a good heart and a kind soul, I promise. However on the outside, I have biting humor and sarcasm. This is coupled by my ability to just people watch and some call it judgmental well I call it humor!

So I had a weekend of sports fun! I watched the Nationals bite it on Saturday. the new stadium is pretty clutch and I was impressed by it and the food was a much needed improvement! However, never have I felt more hated by the concessions workers as I did that day. I was like wow this is terrible, but of course I choose this one time to keep my big mouth freaking shut because several of these ppl could have beat me up by crushing me with the sheer body weight. I was amused like a five year on Ritalin (oh wait I was this once) with the ice cream in the mini baseball hats! I havent had one of those since GroundRound went out of business by my house in PA.

I did see a guy walking from the metro on the way to the game with a Let Teddy Win tshirt. I thought this was genius and proceeded to talk about this with my friends and the naturally loud volume that my voice is. Aka I tend to say embarrassing shit really loudly when everyone else decides to be quiet just to smite me! That was pretty much all that amused me, it wasnt a night game so I dont have fun stories of encounters with drunk people at the game!

Needless to say I am excited for baseball season beginning as it is tradition for myself and several friends to attend about 5 to 10 games mostly night games so that we can have several over priced beers (I am also pissed at the increase in beer 5.50 to 7.50 I mean come on!) and then yell YO at the beer man because he is not seeing my wave my arms in most inappropriate manners to gain his attention.

Sunday I went to Game 2 for the Capitals V Flyers series. Okay I am a philadelphia girl currently residing in DC. Friends were able to hook me up with some awesome lower level tickets for the game. Of course I have to attend the game with my flyers jersey. My close friend J wore her Senators jersey hahaha nice! It was at this game that I beginning to doubt all those surveys that call Philadelphians the fattest people in the nation. Or maybe there were just a lot of "large" people in my section. Anyways there were a few of us flyers fans in my row, friends of friends and the such. I was happy to be in the lower level a) because the seats were clutch b) because heckling of opposing teams fans seems to be lower here. I chalk this up to a lot less drinking in the lower level. I frequent the nose bleeds more than enough in the WAC(wachovia arena for all those morons) and yep people tend to drink more and yell a lot more obscenities. Oh wait I am one of those people!

Anyways I walked away from the game victorious feeling vindicated after fridays lose with not only a win but a shutout! Series resumes on Tuesday in Philly, my father will be attending because he as season ticket so I hope he brings them luck back home. And I am banning my friend D from watching them on TV because they only win when he is in person at games and they lose miserably when he watches!

Go Flyers! (this is futile as we will surely face the penguins, and well they are hot right now. Damn you Sidney Crosby!!!)

Sitting Silently

I hope everyone had a good Christmas season! The past few months have been me reflecting on where I am and where I want to go. Unfortunately some circumstances may take me home regardless, and that is fine with me as a large chunk of my heart is at home. It is times like this that you just need someone to sit with you. I dont mean to sit and talk with, just someone that is willing to sit there in silence with you, understanding what that silence means. Its the comfort that someone is there to hold your hand or pat your back no words and no questions asked. I am thankful to have friends that do this and friends that stay in touch with things that are going on in my life, cause without them I would be lost.
It is my strength that defines me, the strength that I get from my family, my friends and God. I am thankful to be blessed with a lot in my life and there isnt a day that goes by that i am not grateful for something or someone.
Take today to look around and see how much love you are surrounded by, sometimes we find it in the most unlikely place
